This shoot was scheduled to be with another model, however, due to genuine illness we found ourselves in need of a replacement model at quite short notice!
I love working with Vicki Frost (MUA), not only is she a great makeup artist, but she's such a great laugh too - we get on so well and its always enjoyable to get together on a project. This started off as something totally different (which we hopefully will get to do soon) but took a tribal twist whilst we were planning and I think we were both pretty happy with the results.
I'd managed to dust off a headdress I's purchased a few years ago when I worked with Alice Chetwynd (one of my all-time favourite shoots!), and via messenger with Vicki whilst she stood in the shops, we managed to agree on some clothing and accessories. Vicki too the initiative and decided on a 'less is more' approach to the makeup. Its so easy to get carried away with patterns and colours but we both wanted this to be a clean look - the clothing/accessories were more than enough in terms of colour!
Shawna stepped up and braught her usual fantastic 'can-do' attitude, and once she'd shot a quick set with Matt she got into the hot seat for Vicki to work her magic. I love the session. I knew I wanted to try using slices of light and luckily, thanks to the pizza, we had some card to cut and use in front of the lights to create a moody light.
My editing is normally done pretty exclusively in Photoshop - I do minor work in Lightroom but usually export as a tiff and take control afterwards - but this set was almost all edited in Lightroom and I am pretty pleased with the results...
