So, here's where I bore everyone with how my year has been...
2017 has been brilliant. Sure, there have been some bumps along the way, but on the whole I have to say we have been very lucky. Firstly, on a personal note, I have loved watching my little boy grow and evolve and that seems to be happening more every 5 minutes! He is really curious and adventurous, pushing boundaries but remaining affectionate, kind and most importantly happy. We've seen days out, trips to the beach, countless walks in the woods and a LOT of ice cream!
Professionally I have so much to be grateful for too; I've met some incredible people, captured some priceless moments. I've worked with people I've never met before and gone on to become good friends with; I've seen couples get engaged and married and have familes have children. I've watched as friends grow and change careers and lives change around me.
Meeting new people and being able to deliver moments they not only appreciate, but treasure, is an amazing thing - sometimes I think photographers forget that something so small as snapping someone smiling can mean the world to them or someone else. In the endless search for the perfect image, we forget about the everyday and the time we wished we'd caught on camera. Trying to do more of this for families is something I am passionate about doing going forward - not that I want to walk away from studio photography, but there is something I love more about natural family photography, the unpredictability and engagement you can get.
I have the busiest year of photography so far ahead of me in 2018 - and this is all down to the support and kind words from those I have worked with. I have a couple of exciting projects ahead for the coming year and I really can't wait to get involved in them.
In the meantime I thought I'd just stick some of the highlights here and wish you all a Happy New Year!
