Sarah & Henry's wedding...

I was absolutely honoured to have been asked to capture this wedding; not only was the occasion absolutely superb, but I came away with some wonderful new friends. Sarah and Henry and honestly two of the nicest people I have dealt with and from the first moments I felt so lucky to have got involved.

Until recently, I had been working with Henry’s sister, (Vicky), who very kindly recommended me as a possible photographer for them to get in touch with, so the initial contact wasn’t totally unexpected. However, since that first email and subsequently meeting to discuss their big day, we have become good friends.

They’d chosen to wed at St Vincent De Paul RC Church in Altrincham and then had the reception at The Mere, Knutsford. Their wedding was amazing - it was the final one for 2018 for me (due to the birth of my daughter the week after), so I truly went out with a bang! The day started at Sarah’s parent’s house, where the bridal party gathered for breakfast and to get ready. As we arrived the bridesmaids were already well underway with Stephanie Swain, who did an amazing job of both hair and makeup for all the girls. We took our time to capture the morning and the details that were waiting for us.

Once the girls were half-ready and tucking into their breakfast, we headed over to The Mere to catch the guys getting ready. Henry, his best men and ushers were busy getting ready and the drinks were already flowing. Following a quick catch up, I left Hannah with them and headed back to the bridal party to catch the all-important dress shots!

Sarah looked absolutely stunning, (as did all the girls), as she came down to meet her father I think it’s safe to say he was pretty speechless. A few drinks and photographs and it wasn’t long before we headed out to the church to make sure everyone was going to be on time. St Vincent De Paul is a beautiful church, with so much light and space and the ceremony was brilliant. I’ve never seen a bride and groom smile and laugh so much at the altar; it was obvious how much they were enjoying the day. Once they’d been declared husband and wife we left for The Mere to celebrate and capture the occasion from there. The group shots (always a tricky one) were brilliant; everyone was more than happy to stand and take part making it easy for us, and once we’d got what we needed, everyone moved inside to eat.

Luckily, during the meal, Hannah and I kept an eye on the sunset, and just about got the timing right - we grabbed Sarah and Henry and shot off to catch the last of the sunlight - so glad we did as the shots were great. Bride and groom were more than happy to hang out, despite it starting to get a little chilly, and before we knew it the speeches and evening entertainment was upon us. Sarah and Henry’s first dance was to a wonderful song called Agape, by Bears Den - and what followed was a brilliant live set from a band called The Mac Bros.

The wedding was fantastic, one of the biggest we’d shot with around 180 guests, but everyone was so cooperative and happy to let us get what we needed. The wedding was certainly one of my highlights of 2018, and a wonderful way to finish wedding season for me.
