Over the past 18 months, I have done a fair few family sessions and I absolutely love them! There’s something about taking a stroll and meeting people that is rewarding, obviously when there are kids involved it's always a little unpredictable - but I’ve been so lucky to have met and photographed some wonderful families.
The most recent session was no exception; I shot Toni, Mitch, and Bobbie last year and they are a fantastic little family; this time they brought along Toni’s brother his little family and Toni’s parents too, so it really was a family session!
Toni had mentioned they had got tutu’s for the girls and that they’d like to go to Cannock Chase - what better place to go!? Despite a very early morning storm (thunder and lightning when I woke at 6am) everyone was keen to get out there and have fun; which I think everyone did. After dragging them all through a pretty muddy and overgrown ‘path’ we reached a lovely area that ran alongside a stream, giving the girls plenty of opportunities to try out their wellies - which were more than essential!
The kids were brilliant, splashing in puddles, playing hide and seek and they weren’t camera-shy in the slightest, which made my job much easier. After a short walk, we reached the stepping stones and the girls enjoyed themselves, splashing, throwing very large stones and even sitting down in the water (fortunately parents remembered to bring spare clothes).
I really enjoyed chatting and getting to know everyone a little better and I think we got some great stuff!
