Wedding Guide
Thanks for booking - I am so excited to be capturing your wedding day!
On the day I will be working to provide you with the best possible experience, so you can relax knowing that you are in safe hands.
I aim to capture everything as it happens, so you won’t be overly posed or managed for me to photograph every step of the day. I might make a few small suggestions on where to stand if the lighting is poor, but I try to ensure that I am very much part of your wedding rather than taking control of it.
As your day progresses, I will be on hand to offer any help and support with and without the camera, whilst also providing a visual record of everything that happens.
Ultimately, I want to help you have the best day and the day you want to look back on, over and over again.
Step One - You have secured your photographer
Congratulations! But I’m here to help with much more than that - so if you are looking for supplier recommendations or simply need some advice about anything on the day, I’m on hand
to offer some help or to bounce ideas off.
Thinking of bringing some colour with smoke grenades or adding sparklers to your evening? I can help you decide on some of the pro’s and con’s of this and help you weigh up if they are
right for your wedding.
Step Two - Engagement Sessions
If your package includes this, then we can get planning to meet and take some photos.
These sessions give you the opportunity to experience the way I work and to overcome any of the nerves or worries you might have about having your photograph taken. If you have a place in mind then let me know or if you need some suggestions we can chat about this too.
Step Three - Wedding Details Form
Around 3 months before your wedding date, I will send over a form for you to complete. It’s straight forward, but does help me to build up some key information and time line for your day.
Importantly in the form, it does have space for group portraits, so it’s useful to add names of those guests you would like formal photographs of on the day. Once I have this I will build a plan and share this with you to confirm everything.
Step Four - One week to go
I will make myself available to have a call with you to make sure that I have everything from you in terms of timings and details. It’s useful to have a quick run through of your day one last time, just to avoid any surprises.
Now, all that’s really left to do is capture you getting married!
Step Five - Your Wedding Day!
This is it - finally your day is here and I will be so excited to cover it for you. It’s time for you to relax and enjoy the day, take a moment to spend with each other at points during the day and revel in the fact that this is YOUR wedding day.
Step Six - Your Final Package.
Within a week of your incredible day, you will have a small preview gallery to keep you going whilst you wait for the final edits.
8-12 weeks later you should get a delivery from me containing your presentation package, containing your digital files on a USB, prints as well as a link to your online gallery.
Engagement Sessions
As I might have already mentioned, this is the perfect chance for us to meet and for you to get
a feel for how I work - it’s a great preview into what you’ll experience on the day.
That said, it’s also a opportunity to relax and enjoy time together in a far more casual setting, to forget the daily routine and to get excited together about your wedding day.
I’ve had couples use images from these sessions on their wedding invitations or around the venue on the wedding day, and very often they’ll be the first photos anyone else has taken of you both.
The resulting images are shared with you in an online gallery and are yours to download and use however you wish. It also gives you chance to get familiar with the online system as this is the same way your final gallery will be shared too.
Time and Location
I find that spending between 1 and 2 hours together gives us enough time to catch up, for you to shake off any nerves and really enjoy the time we spend together. Normally I’d suggest that we meet up a couple of hours before sunset to make the most of the softer light and perhaps even get a bit of extra drama as the sky catches fire.
Locations can be to suit you, it might be a local park, a place you got engaged or somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit - but don’t worry, if you haven’t got anything in mind I can usually make some suggestions!
Clothing
First of all, wear something you feel comfortable in; there’s absolutely no point in getting dressed in something super-formal if you normally wear jeans and a t-shirt. I want you to feel like yourself and it will show on camera.
Neutral colours always work well and depending on weather, bringing a jacket that can be taken off to helps mix things up a bit.
If you are unsure what would work, just ask!
