Briery Wood Wedding - Sam & Adam

Who wouldn’t want to get married in the Lake District?

Sam and Adam had the most amazing day at Briery Wood near Lake Windemere, the sun shone, the drinks flowed and I witnessed some truly incredible moments, one that will stay with me forever.

I was lucky enough to meet up with Sam and Adam earlier this year, where a steady walk and engagement shoot became an epic 3 hour ramble getting lost in Allerthrope Woods - we had some fun and I knew their day was going to be a good one to capture.

Briery Wood Country House Hotel is located about 5 minutes walk from the edge of Lake Windemere and the area is stunning. On my arrival for the bridal preparations, I discovered some of the boys had been swimming in the lake that morning; even though it was a warm day, it must have been freezing!

Bridal prep with Sam and the girls was a pleasure to capture and I even found out about the ikea bag hack - if you haven’t heard of it before, you should check it out as I can imagine many brides have found it a benefit on the day. Sam was really calm and just took everything in her stride, Adam was a little more nervous, but the guys around him were all on hand to reassure him and keep the laughter flowing.

An outdoor ceremony was blessed by some truly outrageous sunshine and I imagine that a few of the guys were feeling the heat in their suits, but when Adam saw his bride walking towards him it was like time stood still. Their ceremony was beautiful and included many of the guests standing, which I thought was really nice. From then on it was over to the drinks reception and the warm sunshine made for a very social occassion on the patio and for many of the children to roll down the hill.

The speeches were all incredible and had everything, laughter, gasps and tears but overall so much joy. We managed to sneak away following the meals to take Sam and Adam through some beautiful woodland at the end of the driveway and then walk back through the gardens of the property. Then came the moment I will never forget.

I asked Sam to just pose in her dress for me on her own, just a simple shot, with her back to me and looking over her shoulder, Adam was to my right and after a few photos I just heard him say to Sam ‘You are so beautiful’ whilst he shed a few tears. As I said to Sam later, you don’t get many grooms that are that overwhelmed and are so blown away with this feeling of immense luck to have found and married the woman of his dreams and being there to hear and witness that was truly an honour.

The rest of the night was spent dancing and drinking, with Sam and her daughter busting moves to all of the Encanto music that was played for the little ones. I absolutely loved the day and felt so lucky to have been there for them.

Congratulations Sam and Adam!
