Wootton Park Wedding - Katie & Daniel

Katie and Dan got married at Wootton Park, near Stratford at the end of April and they were truly blessed. First by the weather - it was a stunning day, but more importantly, by being surrounded with the most amazing group of family and friends determined to celebrate in style…

When I first met up with Katie and Dan for their engagement session, I felt like I was meeting some old friends as we clicked pretty quickly - within a short walk we were capturing some lovely images of them both as we walked over Cannock Chase and I think they felt reassured and confident ahead of their wedding day.

April came and before we all knew it, I was arriving at Wootton Park to meet Katie and her girls for the bridal prep at the venue - Wootton Park has the most amazing bridal suite and gives any bridal party some incredible space, light and privacy and it’s easily one of my favourite places to shoot the hair and makeup. For the day I was joined with Jo from Iris and Ivy Photography who was focused on meeting Dan and the groomsmen up until the ceremony and she did an amazing job. Neither Katie or Dan seemed to be suffering from any nerves and both seemed just so excited to be celebrating and were intent on enjoying the hell out of their day.

Katie looked incredible and before she was walked down the aisle, she had her father come into the bridal suite once she was ready for a first look at her in THE dress, it’s safe to say he was blown away and the reactions were a pleasure to capture. The girls were all equally impressed and it wasn’t long before they were strolling down the aisle to green Dan by the lake. Their ceremony was fantastic with some lovely readings which meant that it didn’t just fly by like some civil ceremonies can do - the registrars did a great job and really helped by giving clear instruction to help with the confetti line on the exit from the wedding.

Following this we headed back to capture the drinks reception and just before the guest were seated, we managed to take the couple away for a few shots by the lake, Katie and Dan spotted the boat and requested we try it later in the day. Speeches were brilliant, and provided so much laughter and emotion, and the food that was provided by the team at Wootton Park was sensational.

Following the meal, we did get a second session with Katie and Dan, and we headed down to the lake whereby the couple got into the boat and started rowing - I figured, given the enthusiasm that they showed earlier in the day to get in, that they might be crusing around the lake easily; in reality it didn’t quite work like that and we were all in stitches watching them splash about whilst we attempted to get them back to shore to head back in for the first dance. Once back into the venue, they had an amazing evening and as I left the dance floor was packed and everyone was having the best time.

It was an absolute honour to capture the day and everyone was so supportive on the day, I know most couples say they’d love to do it all again, but sometimes as a photographer upi feel the same about a wedding - this was certainly one of those occassions!

Congratulations Katie and Dan!
