First wedding of 2022 and we’re back with a bang!

This was one I was looking forward to for a while - it got postponed until this year and the couple had an extra guest on the table plans following the birth of their daughter at the end of 2021.

Kathryn and Michael live in the next village to me and following a chat with a mutual friend, they got in touch in January 2020 to see if I was available. Luckily I was, and I was in for a great wedding to capture. Originally, their reception was supposed to be at Ingestre Orangery, but with the postponement there was a change of plan and they booked Blithfield Lakeside Barns, overlooking Blithfield Reservior.

The morning started at Blithfield, with both bridal and groom preparations and the weather opened up for a stunning day. Kathryn was relaxed and really enjoyed just taking her time and getting her children ready - Michael was a little nervous, but strolling over to his wedding car the nerves soon turned to excitement and he couldn’t wait to get to the church and start welcoming guests.

The ceremony at St Peter’s Church in Great Haywood was perfect and following the ceremony we followed the couple to the bride’s grandmothers to have a few quick photos with her. Then it was back to Blithfield to start the celebrations, the rest of the day was filled with fun and laughter. The reception venue is positioned perfectly above the reservoir and being able to enjoy the sun all afternoon was a rare treat. We shot the couple at sunset following their first dance and even managed to get some sparkler shots - although the blustery condidions did make lighting the sparklers a bit of a challenge!
